Rondel Group has strengthened its growing forecourt portfolio with the acquisition of Byfield Fiveways Service Station in Northamptonshire, taking its network to 12 trading sites across England and Wales.

The BP and SPAR-branded forecourt, located on the busy A361 between Daventry and Banbury, was sold on behalf of Byfield Retail Ltd through specialist business property adviser Christie & Co. The site serves both passing motorists and residents of surrounding villages and recently benefited from significant forecourt infrastructure upgrades.

The acquisition marks the second forecourt purchased by Rondel Group through Christie & Co, following an earlier deal completed in 2025. The operator has expanded rapidly in recent years, building a network of forecourts alongside a fuel supply business.

Ronit Jangra of Rondel Group said the latest addition complements the company's existing presence in the area.

“This latest acquisition fits perfectly into our growing network and complementing the larger site we have nearby. We are planning to carry out some works on the shop in Byfield so that customers can enjoy it over the summer. Simon has done a great job building a popular business and we are delighted he decided to sell to us,” Jangra said.

The forecourt had been owned and operated by Simon and his wife since 2008, when they originally acquired the business through Christie & Co. When the couple decided to sell, they once again instructed the adviser to conduct a confidential sales process targeting a select group of regional operators.

Dave Morris, regional director at Christie & Co, who handled the transaction, praised the vendors' stewardship of the business.

“Simon and his wife have built a fantastic business, having originally acquired it through Christie & Co back in 2008. It has been a pleasure to act for Simon and his wife, and we look forward to seeing the site go from strength to strength under the new ownership,” he said.

Commenting on wider market conditions, Morris added: “While global factors and conflict in the Middle East have presented challenges to the UK fuel market, there are signs that fuel supply conditions are beginning to stabilise as we move towards summer.”

Simon said the decision to sell had not been an easy one after nearly two decades operating the site.

“We made the tough decision to sell the site which we have enjoyed operating since 2008. We approached Dave Morris to get advice on the market and then to run a very discreet process to see if we could get the price we wanted for the site. We are delighted with the outcome and want to thank all our customers for their support over the years,” he said.
