Woodborough Post Office has officially reopened following a major refurbishment of the village convenience store, restoring key services to the local community after a six-month closure.

The branch at 137 Main Street, Woodborough, Nottingham, resumed trading last week under new owner and experienced postmaster Maldebhai Gorania, who has undertaken an extensive refit of the store to modernise the premises and improve the retail offer.

The official opening was marked by Michael Payne, MP for Gedling, who cut the ribbon at the refurbished store. Gedling mayor Kyle Robinson-Payne also attended the event.

Woodborough had been without a post office since November 2025, with residents forced to travel elsewhere for postal and banking services. The reopened branch now offers the same range of services as before, alongside a fully refurbished and well-stocked convenience store.

Michael Payne MP said the reopening was “a great deal” for local residents.

“I’m delighted to join in the celebration to mark the official opening of this great-looking refurbished store and post office services resuming,” he said.

“People live busy lives and it’s great that people can do their banking here, send and collect parcels every day at the heart of the village.”

Gorania said the response from customers had been overwhelmingly positive.

“People in Woodborough are very happy that their post office has re-opened. They are really pleased with the look of the fully refurbished store too,” he said.

“It was a big refurbishment of the shop, and we were able to fully stock the shop before the post office re-opened again.”

Post Office retail change lead David Woodhead said: “We know how important a post office is to a community and we are delighted to have re-opened Woodborough branch inside this modernised store.”
