Tesco has launched a version of its Tesco Clubcard for 16 and 17-year-olds – giving younger customers access to Clubcard Prices deals for the first time.

The new ‘Clubcard for 16-17s’ will allow teenagers in that age group to sign up for a Tesco Clubcard that enables them to access Clubcard Prices in Tesco stores and collect Clubcard points that can be converted into vouchers for money off at the checkout.

The new digital Clubcard for 16-17s is only available through the Tesco app or website, and the teenager must be invited to join from the Clubcard account of a parent or guardian.

“We are delighted to be giving younger customers access to Tesco Clubcard for the first time, and we have no doubt that it will prove popular with 16 and 17-year-olds, whether they are shopping in one of our ‘big Tesco’ or ‘little Tesco’ stores,” said Shama Wilson, Tesco Group membership & loyalty director.

“From today our new Clubcard for 16-17s members will not only be able to get Clubcard Prices in-store, but also collect points that they can turn into vouchers for money off their in-store shopping.”

Running for more than 30 years, Tesco’s loyalty scheme has more than 24 million active household members.

Britain's biggest food retailer last week reported a slowdown in underlying UK sales growth in its first quarter, saying the conflict in the Middle East was continuing to create uncertainty for consumers.
