Terold Invest, an international holding company that controls Grupo Peñaflor and WX Wines, has announced the acquisition of Off-Piste Wines, one of the UK’s most dynamic and disruptive wine companies, in a landmark move that significantly strengthens its position in the world’s most competitive wine market, doubling down on the Group’s international growth strategy.
Founded in 2007, Off-Piste Wines has become one of the UK’s most forward-thinking wine businesses, known for its pace of innovation, deep customer relationships and its ability to spot and scale trends ahead of the market.
Its portfolio includes Most Wanted, the UK’s number 1 canned wine brand alongside The Wanderer and a range of high performing retail and exclusive brands. The company currently sells approximately 3M 9-litre cases per year and is present across all UK channels, including supermarkets, discount stores, convenience stores and restaurants/hotels.
The global company resulting from the merger will represent significant scale in the wine industry, with total volumes in Europe exceeding five million cases annually, strengthening the group’s ability to compete and grow internationally. By combining Off‑Piste Wines’ best‑in‑class UK execution, brand development expertise and distribution network with Terold Invest’s global scale and sourcing capabilities, the group is uniquely positioned to unlock significant growth opportunities across both UK and international markets.
The newly combined portfolio brings together a powerful, complementary brand offering for modern wine consumers, including Grupo Peñaflor's globally recognised brands such as Trapiche and Finca Las Moras, fast growing US success Bread & Butter of US company WX Brands, acquired by Terold Invest in 2021, and UK standouts from Off-Piste, Most Wanted Wines and The Wanderer.
“This is a highly strategic acquisition for Terold Invest," said Gustavo Sampayo, Terold Invest’s CEO. "Off-Piste Wines has built an exceptional business in the UK, combining commercial strength with a clear track record of innovation. Together, we see significant opportunity to accelerate growth, expand our brand footprint, and shape the future of the wine category across key global markets”
The Off-Piste Wines management team, led by CEO Andy Talbot, will remain at the helm, ensuring continuity and building upon its strong momentum.
