Snappy Shopper has secured a place in the inaugural Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50, recognising the Dundee-founded business as one of the UK’s fastest-growing private companies.
The recognition comes as Snappy Group, the retail technology business behind Snappy Shopper, surpasses 20 million customer orders and has generated more than half a billion pounds in retailer sales through its technology platform.
The prestigious new list celebrates Scotland’s fastest growing private companies, recognising businesses achieving exceptional growth at scale and speed. Snappy Shopper is one of just 50 companies selected for its inaugural edition.
Founded in 2017 as a rapid grocery delivery marketplace, Snappy Group has evolved into one of the UK's leading convenience retail technology businesses. Today, the Group operates across three specialist divisions: Snappy Shopper, its marketplace and rapid delivery platform; Snappy Technologies, which delivers white-label and Order Aggregation solutions; and Snappy Media, its retail media business.
More than 2,000 convenience stores partner with Snappy Group in hundreds of towns and cities across the UK, using the platform to reach more customers and grow their businesses.
The scale of the milestone is significant, with 20 million grocery orders equating to around 100,000 tonnes of shopping – roughly the weight of 17 Eiffel Towers. At an average delivery time of 45 minutes, 20 million deliveries would take more than 1,700 years to complete and if placed end to end, 20 million shopping receipts would stretch to around 4,000 kilometres, the distance from London to Cairo.
Mike Callachan, CEO of Snappy Group, said: "Processing 20 million orders is an incredible milestone for our business and represents 20 million occasions where local retailers have been able to serve their communities through technology. Every order reflects the trust placed in our platform by both retailers and customers and we're incredibly proud of the impact we've helped create.
"To be recognised in the inaugural Sunday Times Scotland Fast 50 is a fantastic achievement for everyone at Snappy. We’ve grown from a Dundee start-up into a business supporting thousands of retailers across the UK, but our ambition remains the same: help convenience retailers embrace technology, compete in a digital world and continue serving their local communities. We’re proud of how far we've come and we're even more excited about what comes next."
The recognition marks another milestone in Snappy Group's growth journey, highlighting the company's transformation from a Scottish start-up into one of the UK's leading retail technology businesses and reinforcing its position as one of Scotland's fastest-growing companies.
