Shell has extended its long-standing partnership with NCR Atleos to continue operating free-to-use ATMs across its UK forecourt network.

Under the renewed agreement, NCR Atleos will manage 408 ATMs across Shell's forecourt estate, providing customers with free access to cash while supporting day-to-day operations at the retailer's fuel and convenience sites.

The financial self-service provider will continue delivering a fully managed ATM service, including monitoring, maintenance, cash replenishment and regulatory compliance, with the aim of ensuring high availability and reducing the operational burden on Shell.

Janine Albrecht-Webb, general manager for mobility and convenience at Shell UK, said access to cash remained an important part of the customer experience.

"Providing our customers with convenient, free access to cash remains an important part of the forecourt experience," she said.

"Our continued collaboration with NCR Atleos enables us to deliver a reliable service at scale while enhancing convenience and supporting retail engagement across our network."

Neil Martin, area managing director for the UK at NCR Atleos, said the agreement reflected the strength of the long-standing relationship between the two companies.

"This engagement reflects the strength of our relationship with Shell and their continued confidence in the ability of NCR Atleos to deliver reliable, large-scale ATM services," he said.

"Together, we are enabling convenient access to cash for consumers while helping drive footfall and enhance the retail experience across Shell's forecourt network."

Shell said maintaining free access to cash supports customers making fuel purchases, shopping in its convenience stores and accessing other services at its forecourts, while helping to increase dwell time and in-store spending.
