AI-powered operational platform Serve First has unveiled Vision, a new capability that turns a store camera into live operational data, showing retailers footfall, queue length and how long customers spend in each zone, while it is happening.
While customer feedback, mystery shopping and audits capture periodic snapshots, Vision generates operational data continuously without asking a customer, auditor or manager to manually capture or record it. The technology gives retailers an always-on view of what’s happening on the shop floor.
In recent Serve First research, 63 per cent of the 250 UK customer experience leaders said customer experience platforms should use in-store footage to identify and resolve customer issues.
Designed with privacy in mind, Vision analyses camera feeds on a device in each store, with faces blurred at source. No personal data is stored or sent to the cloud for analysis. Instead, only non-identifying data leaves the store, covering operational metrics such as customer counts, queue lengths and dwell times, as well as health and safety compliance data. This also helps keep processing costs down, making the technology practical across entire store estates, rather than just flagship locations.
Key features include:
- People counting and traffic flow: retailers can see how busy a store is by the second, helping them match staffing more closely to customer demand. This supports better labour efficiency by showing where and when colleagues are needed most.
- Measuring zone occupancy and dwell time: store managers can see which areas attract customers, which are underused and how long people spend in each zone. This gives retailers clearer evidence to improve store layout, product promotions, conversion, and overall space performance.
- Queue management: teams can spot queues as they form, giving them the opportunity to respond in real time, reduce wait times and improve speed of service before customer satisfaction is affected.

Unlike standalone video analytics tools, Vision connects live store data directly with Serve First’s existing customer feedback, audits, tasks and training workflows. This gives multi-location operators a source of live operational data alongside their existing insights, helping teams move from spotting a problem to acting on it in the same platform, rather than relying on another dashboard.
“Retailers have always had to make operational decisions with an incomplete picture," said Erol Ayvaz, CEO and co-founder. "They might know what customers said in feedback, or what an audit found on a particular day, but they often don’t have a live view of what was happening in the store when the experience was being shaped.
“Vision changes that by turning what is already happening on the shop floor into practical, real-time insight. Teams can see when queues are forming, where demand is building and which areas of the store are underperforming, so they can make better decisions on staffing, service and store layout while there is still time to act.”
