Mondelēz International has revealed it contributed £2.3 billion to the UK economy in 2025 as part of a new report highlighting its investment in manufacturing, innovation and skills across the country.
The maker of brands including Cadbury, BelVita, Philadelphia, Toblerone and OREO today published its ‘Joy-makers and Growth-creators’ report, outlining the company’s role in supporting jobs, suppliers and regional growth in the UK.
The report said the business supported nearly 12,000 jobs across the UK in 2025, including 3,800 direct employees across eight sites. It also spent £1.3bn with more than 1,000 UK suppliers, ranging from dairy farmers to logistics firms.
Mondelēz said it has invested £135 million in UK manufacturing since 2022, alongside a further £24m in research and development facilities.
The company also described the UK as its largest global R&D hub, employing more than 700 scientists and engineers focused on food science, nutrition and wellbeing innovation.
In the West Midlands alone, Mondelēz said it contributes nearly £600m in gross value added (GVA) and employs more than 2,000 people. The business also said it has donated £7.7m to UK charities since 2022, while its Health for Life programme has reached more than 266,000 people.
The report calls on the government to recognise the food and drink sector as a priority within its Industrial Strategy, highlighting the industry’s £42bn contribution to the economy and 500,000-strong workforce.
Mondelēz also urged policymakers to provide greater regulatory stability, align skills reforms with advanced manufacturing needs and strengthen collaboration between the government, industry and academia.
“We’ve been part of the UK’s growth story for more than 200 years,” Christian Woolfenden, senior vice president and managing director for UK and Ireland at Mondelēz International, said.
“With regulatory stability and a place at the heart of the Industrial Strategy, we can drive further growth and help ease cost-of-living pressures for families across the UK.”
