Raging Bull Biltong has been selected by the British Army Force Atlantic and Expedition Antarctic Quest 21 teams to provide the biltong for two amazing challenges later this year.
Expedition Antarctic Quest 21, a mixed team of serving and ex-military personnel, are setting out to follow in Sir Ernest Shackleton’s footsteps in the centenary year of his final expedition to the Antarctic. They aim is to carry out essential scientific experiments to help understand global warming.
Both challenges have required intense training and meticulous nutritional planning. The teams approached Raging Bull because their biltong is very high in natural protein and low in carbs and sugar. Protein is essential for muscle repair and this healthy ready to eat snack is the perfect partner for these extraordinary challenges.
“Biltong is a delicious snack which is low carb, low sugar and high in protein which is essential to reduce weakness and fatigue," said Captain Scott Pollock, Team leader of Army Force Atlantic. "Over time a lack of protein can make you lose muscle mass, which in turn cuts your strength, makes it harder to keep your balance, and slows your metabolism. Something we definitely do not need on our journey.”
“Raging Bull biltong is rich in protein which encourages muscle repair and helps to prevent muscle breakdown with regular feedings throughout the day," said Emily Whitehead – Team Nutritionist, Expedition Antarctic Quest 21. "The biltong will be part of the snack bags that the team will graze on during each day of the expedition.”
