The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a nationwide Food Alert for Action, ordering the withdrawal and recall of all frozen products supplied by Inarah’s Frozen Foods Ltd over concerns that the products may be unsafe to eat.
The alert applies to all frozen products sold under the Inarah’s Frozen Foods, Inarah’s Fine Foods and New York Crispy brands, regardless of pack size or best-before date. The products are understood to have been supplied to food businesses across the UK.
According to the FSA, the company has been unable to demonstrate that the affected products were produced and handled in accordance with required food safety and hygiene standards. As a result, the regulator has advised that the products should not be consumed and must be removed from sale immediately.
The affected range covers a wide variety of frozen foods, including chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian products sold in different pack formats. The alert covers products carrying the company names and addresses of Inarah Frozen Foods Ltd in Walsall, Four Seasons Food Group in Stoke-on-Trent, and KBH Foods in Bradford on their labels.
The FSA has instructed food businesses selling the products to stop sales immediately and undertake product withdrawals. Where products have been sold directly to consumers, retailers are being advised to initiate recalls and ensure customers are informed not to eat the products.
Enforcement authorities and local authorities have also been asked to ensure affected businesses take appropriate action and to report withdrawal and recall activity to the FSA.
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products are being advised not to eat them and to dispose of them safely at home.
The notice has been issued as a Food Alert for Action, one of the FSA’s most serious food safety notifications, requiring specific action by local authorities and food businesses to protect consumers.
