Slough Borough Council has relaunched a scheme offering free expert support to help local businesses cut operating costs as firms continue to face rising overheads.

The renewed Business Cost Reduction Project will once again be delivered by Place Support Partnership (PSP), following what the council described as a successful pilot programme.

The initiative provides Slough-based businesses with free advice to identify savings across key areas including energy, merchant fees, insurance, water and staff training, helping firms reduce overheads and improve profitability.

The council said the programme is designed to help businesses make informed financial decisions and strengthen their resilience during challenging trading conditions.

Councillor Wal Chahal, leader of Slough Borough Council, said: "I'm pleased to see this initiative continuing so it can reach and help more businesses.

"Slough has a great variety of businesses which are very important to our economy. I urge them to find out what support is available, to see how their business can benefit."

As part of the programme, PSP advisers will engage directly with the local business community through a dedicated outreach programme, with the aim of ensuring that even the smallest independent retailers and businesses can access specialist procurement expertise.

Rishi Sood, chief executive of Place Support Partnership, said: "We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Slough Borough Council. During the pilot phase, we saw firsthand the resilience of Slough's business owners, and we are eager to help even more businesses unlock hidden savings.

"Our goal is simple: to demystify the complex utility and service markets, ensuring every local business gets the best possible value for their money."
