New Kids’ Cereal Targets Breakfast Sugar Crash

A new children’s breakfast cereal launching in April is aiming to tackle one of the most common challenges parents face at the start of the day, the mid-morning energy crash.

Cheeky Pete’s, created by entrepreneur and health podcast host Ben Hopkins, has been designed to help stabilise children’s blood sugar levels, an issue increasingly linked by researchers to behaviour, focus and long-term health.

The idea for the brand began after Hopkins’ mother was diagnosed with stage four cancer. Searching for answers, he spent several years interviewing leading metabolic and cancer researchers on his podcast, Degrees of Health. Across more than 100 conversations, one theme kept emerging: many modern chronic diseases share a common root in poor metabolic health.

Marketed as “A Smooth Start for Little Legends,” the cereal is formulated to provide steady energy rather than a quick sugar rush. Made using plant protein, pea starch and coconut oil, it delivers 18g of protein per bowl, is high in soluble fibre and contains no seed oils or artificial sweeteners.
