Ben & Jerry’s brought a community picnic to Aberdeen after Chris Cobb of Keystore Express was named winner of the UK-wide retailer competition celebrating the important role convenience stores play in their communities.
Running from 22 June to 19 July and inspired by the launch of the Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich, the competition gave retailers the opportunity to bring their local communities together, while celebrating the important role they play in the areas they serve.
As part of his prize, Chris also received £2,000 to donate to a cause of his choice, giving him the opportunity to support his local community.
On Tuesday, Cults and District WRI Hall was transformed into a vibrant community celebration, as local residents came together to enjoy great local food, live music performances and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
“Convenience retailers play a vital role in their local communities, so we wanted to give them the chance to bring people together and celebrate the communities they serve,” said Lucy McManus, Brand Manager for Ben & Jerry’s. “It was great to recognise Chris's efforts with a day of great food, entertainment and, of course, plenty of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Seeing the excitement around the Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich extend beyond the store and into the wider community was brilliant.”
Chris said: “It was a great day for the whole community to enjoy. We were so thrilled to be selected as the winner, and it was a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the people who support our business every day. Seeing our customers, local families and neighbours come together to enjoy the event made us incredibly proud. We would like to say a huge thank you to Ben & Jerry’s for making this happen.”
