Bebeto launches Tik Tok-inspired freeze-dried sweets

Bebeto launches Tik Tok-inspired freeze-dried sweets

Confectionery challenger brand Bebeto has announced the launch of its new Freeze-Dried Sweets, coming to UK stores this November. The "Freeze Crunchy" range is inspired by viral TikTok trends that has seen 122 million related posts as of August 2024, and Bebeto is the first major brand to bring freeze-dried confectionery directly to retail shelves. Freeze-drying transforms traditional sweets into crunchy, flavour-packed treats that push the boundaries of typical confectionery. It’s one of the most exciting trends in confectionery today and delivers a fun, sensory experience like no other.

Bebeto’s new Freeze-Dried Sweets will be available in three mouth-watering crunchy flavours: Peach Rings, Watermelon, and Marshmallow Twist. Each 35g resealable pouch ensures the sweets retain their crunchy texture while keeping moisture out, and all products in the range are Halal-certified. The Peach Rings and Watermelon flavours contain no artificial colours. Available in SRP 12 x 35g. RSP £2.00.

As the first UK mainstream confectionery brand to produce its own freeze-dried sweets in-house, Bebeto is setting new standards for quality. By purchasing its own freeze-drying factory, Bebeto controls the entire production process, ensuring that its sweets are consistently of the highest quality. Many competitors rely on third-party manufacturers, but Bebeto’s dedication to excellence means they deliver superior products every time at a competitive price.

The freeze-drying process, often used in space exploration and emergency foods, works by freezing the sweets and then using a vacuum to remove moisture. This creates a light, crispy texture that has been described as a game-changer for sweet lovers. The process enhances the flavour of the sweets while creating a unique, brittle texture that is unlike anything else on the market.

"We're incredibly excited to be leading the way in freeze-dried confectionery," said Phil Hulme, Commercial Director at Kervan Gida UK. "The trend started on social media, but we’ve elevated it by taking full control of the freeze-drying process. Our new range is all about delivering a high-quality, unique confectionery experience that UK consumers can now enjoy straight off the shelves. We’re proud to offer a product that is innovative, premium, and accessible."

Though the freeze-drying process requires more time and technology, Bebeto is committed to keeping its prices competitive within the premium confectionery space. By managing production internally, they are able to maintain both quality and affordability.

Rolling out from the end of October, Bebeto’s Freeze-Dried Sweet Range will be available in SPAR (with FSDUs), Co-op Scotland and will also be available through Parfetts Cash and Carry.
