Big brands steal a march in home delivery: Snappy Shopper

Home delivery app Snappy Shopper has unveiled its top-selling products sourced from a network of 1,800 independent retailers, with big brand products coming out on top.

The top-selling list, filled with household names, including Pepsi Max, Warburtons, Coca-Cola, and Muller, all experienced significant boosts in sales through Snappy Shopper, compared to the previous year, indicating that even amidst the prevailing cost-of-living crisis and the rise of own-brand products, household names continue to reign supreme in the realm of convenience and home delivery.

Coca-Cola and Muller came up on top. In the past 12 months Coca-Cola’s 1.75l bottle ranked best-selling food and drink product across the entire Snappy Shopper network and experienced a remarkable 145.2 per cent surge in sales from the previous year. This one Coca-Cola product alone sold over 68,000 units.

Similarly, Muller witnessed a substantial boost in sales for its two litre semi-skimmed milk, with a remarkable increase of over 345 per cent over the same time.

“It’s no coincidence that big brands are seeing increased sales with Snappy Shopper. These results confirm our customers’ preference for recognisable and trusted brands over store alternatives for home delivery. The potential for even greater sales growth for these brands is unmatched with us,” Mike Callachan, founder and chief executive, said.

“Recent data from Kantar shows that grocery own brand sales reached 51 per cent by the end of 2022. As food prices rise steeply, shoppers are turning to cheaper supermarket alternatives. However, the convenience of purchasing established brands from local independent convenience stores is thriving, leading to larger basket spends and ultimately benefitting local retailers and their businesses.”

Callachan said the group’s Snappy Brand Partnerships and retail media solutions enable an unprecedented surge in both in-store and online sales for brands.

“We dedicate ourselves to making brands accessible to shoppers, promoting exciting new products, and executing winning campaigns with irresistible discounts. Our unparalleled ability to place products directly in shoppers’ view and baskets sets us apart,” he said.
