Parcel locker operator InPost has reached 15,000 locker locations across the UK, as growing consumer demand for flexible delivery options continues to reshape the retail and e-commerce landscape.

The company said the milestone reflects a significant shift in consumer expectations around parcel delivery, with millions of shoppers now able to access 24/7 parcel collection and returns through lockers located at supermarkets, retail parks, transport hubs and residential areas.

The expansion presents a growing opportunity for convenience retailers and other host locations, with InPost research showing that 78 per cent of consumers make a purchase when visiting a parcel locker, spending an average of £22.90 per visit.

According to the company, out-of-home delivery is becoming increasingly popular as consumers seek greater control over when and where they receive parcels. Research commissioned by InPost found that one in three parcels fails on the first delivery attempt, while 40 per cent of consumers miss at least one delivery every month. Meanwhile, 58 per cent of consumers now believe parcel lockers are a better option than home or workplace delivery, with two in five UK adults already using them.

Paul Selvey, network director at InPost UK, said the growth of the locker network reflects changing consumer behaviour.

“Reaching 15,000 lockers is a significant milestone, but it also reflects a bigger shift in how delivery is expected to work,” he said.

“For years, delivery has been designed around cost and convenience at checkout, not around what actually works for the people receiving parcels.

“When consumers are given real choice, behaviour changes fast. More control, more certainty, delivery that fits around how people actually live. That's what out-of-home enables and why it's no longer a niche preference. It's becoming the expectation.”

InPost operates the largest automated parcel locker network in Europe, with almost 95,000 out-of-home points across nine countries. The UK network now accounts for 15,000 of the group's automated parcel machines.
