NewstrAid is calling on people and businesses across the newspaper and magazine industry to pull on their favourite knitwear and get involved in Woolly Wednesday on November 4.
The charity’s annual awareness day brings the newstrade together to have some fun while shining a light on the help available to people from the industry who are finding it difficult to cover winter costs.
Under the banner “Wear. Share. Care.”, NewstrAid is encouraging workplaces and individuals across the industry to take part in three simple ways:
WEAR – pull on a favourite jumper, cardigan, scarf or hat – the brighter, bolder or woollier, the better.
SHARE – post a team photo or selfie on social media, share NewstrAid’s Woolly Wednesday content and use #WearShareCare and #NewstrAidWoollyWednesday to help the message travel across the industry.
CARE – support NewstrAid’s winter raffle, helping the charity continue to provide a helping hand to people with a newstrade connection.
And enter the raffle!
NewstrAid is also encouraging companies to turn Woolly Wednesday into a workplace event by challenging colleagues to wear their most colourful knitwear, sharing team photographs and making sure employees know about the support available through the charity.
“Woolly Wednesday is a simple and enjoyable way for the whole industry to come together, but there is an important message behind the colourful jumpers," said Neil Jagger, CEO of NewstrAid.
“Every year we hear from people across the newstrade who need a helping hand especially during the winter months. By getting involved and sharing Woolly Wednesday with colleagues and contacts, people can help us reach someone who may not realise that NewstrAid is there for them.
“We’d love to see businesses and individuals from every part of the industry joining us on 4th November. Whether you wear something woolly, share a post or support our winter raffle, every action helps us spread the word.”
NewstrAid provides financial, practical and emotional support to people from the newspaper and magazine industry, and Woolly Wednesday aims to ensure more people know where to turn when they need help.
Those taking part are encouraged to share their Woolly Wednesday pictures on social media, tag NewstrAid and use #WearShareCare and #NewstrAidWoollyWednesday.
