United Wholesale Scotland (UWS) has celebrated the first anniversary of its United Rainham depot with a record-breaking day of trading, bringing together retailers, supplier partners andcolleagues to mark an exceptional first 12 months in London.
The anniversary event saw the depot buzzing from start to finish, with full trolleys, strongsupplier activations and a packed house of retailers. Day-Today mascot Baggsy also made apopular appearance, meeting customers and adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
The day delivered the depot’s biggest-ever sales day on record, with footfall up 19% year onyear and sales up 26% year on year.
Since opening in 2025, United Rainham has quickly established itself as an important platformfor UWS’s London growth, supporting independent retailers through strong value, range, serviceand an expanding Day-Today symbol proposition.
Chris Gallacher, Managing Director of United Wholesale Scotland, said: “Today was a veryhumbling experience. I spent the day with both retailers and suppliers, and it was brilliant tohear first-hand that we are doing a great job for them.
“When retailers tell you that UWS has helped grow their business over the past 12 months, itmakes us even more determined to continue this journey alongside them and our supplierpartners. That is what this depot is all about: creating a place where everyone can growtogether.
“It was also fantastic to see more London retailers joining our Day-Today symbol group. Thequality of stores we are attracting is first class, and that gives us huge confidence for the future.
“I want to thank every supplier, retailer and colleague who helped bring this day together. Whenwe launched Rainham in 2025, people said it would be difficult to replicate the energy andimpact of the opening event — but we have managed to do it again.
“What a first year it has been. But we will not become complacent. We need to keep pushingboundaries, listening to our retailers and suppliers, and continually improving. That is howUnited Rainham will go from strength to strength."
The celebration comes after UWS recently reported another record-breaking annual Day-Todayand usave trade show in Scotland, where retailer attendance rose 34% and sales valueincreased 39% year on year.
The wholesaler also confirmed it is progressing plans for a furtherdepot in England in 2027.UWS continues to break records not only through sales growth, but through the recognition it iswinning across the industry. Its five-year growth plan is clearly gaining momentum, built on alaser focus on the simple foundations: competitive value, the right range, leading service, investment in people and technology, and genuine partnerships with retailers and suppliers.
With Rainham now firmly established and the next phase of English expansion ahead, UWS isdetermined to keep raising the bar for independent retailers and there suppliers
