Three stores robbed under two hours in Glasgow

Police has appealed for information after an armed robber targeted three Glasgow convenience stores within two hours on Saturday 11 January.

The first incident happened at 8.10 pm at the PBH Superstore on Sandbank Street, Maryhill. The man threatened staff with a handgun, before fleeing with a three-figure sum of cash.

After an hour, a man entered a Shop Smart store on Bilsland Drive in Ruchill, but the staff refused to accede to his demand, prompting him to leave empty-handed.

The final incident happened at 9.45 pm at the Scotmid Convenience Store on South Mains Road, Milngavie, where the suspect was again used a handgun to threaten staff before making off with an unknown sum of money.

"Thankfully no one has been injured as a result of these robberies and attempted robberies,” said Detective Sergeant Neil Guy of Glasgow’s Robbery Unit.

“Each of the staff members have been left evidently shaken and there is additional patrols in the area for the time being.”

Officers believe the same suspect is involved in all the three incidents.

The man is described as between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall, of slim to medium build, wearing a black jacket with the hood up, a balaclava covering his face, black jogging bottoms and white trainers.

“We believe that this man is responsible for the three incidents and I would urge anyone who witnessed someone matching this description, or someone acting suspicious in any of the three areas, to get in contact with police,” Guy said.

“I would also ask any drivers that may have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.”

Police Scotland can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 3289 of Saturday 11 January, 2020.
