Tate & Lyle Sugars rolls out 100% electric lorries

Tate and Lyle's new electric Volvo lorry displayed with historic transport at UK museum

Tate and Lyle deploys electric trucks for UK net-zero goal

Tate & Lyle Sugars is accelerating its sustainability agenda with the launch of two 100 per cent electric Volvo lorries, saving 55,000 diesel miles annually across its East London logistics routes.

The move is part of the company’s mission to be the most ethical and sustainable cane sugar refiner in the world, with a UK net-zero target by 2040.

The electric fleet cuts urban emissions while meeting rising customer demand for greener supply chains, backed by internal research showing 67 per cent of consumers favour brands using EVs.

To mark the milestone, one of the new vehicles was unveiled at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum alongside historic Tate & Lyle transport, from horse and cart to a 1913 McCurd van.
