SuperValu and Centra are celebrating 30 years in Northern Ireland, marking three decades of supporting independent retailers and communities across the region.
The Musgrave NI-owned convenience brands have become established in communities across Northern Ireland, supporting local retailers, suppliers and producers while creating employment and contributing to the local economy.
David Higgins, retail sales director for SuperValu and Centra, said the anniversary was a testament to the partnerships built with independent retailers.
“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating 30 years of SuperValu and Centra in Northern Ireland,” he said. “Reaching this milestone is a testament to the strong partnerships we have built with independent retailers across the region, the dedication of our colleagues and the loyalty of our customers.”
To mark the anniversary and thank shoppers for their support, SuperValu and Centra have launched a ‘30 Years, 30 Chances, £30k’ giveaway. Customers have the chance to win £1,000 each day from 14 September to 13 October.
SuperValu and Centra retailer Gabriel Bell, who has operated a SuperValu store in Crossgar since 2014 and a Centra in Killinchy for 10 years, said Musgrave had been a valued partner to his business.
“We’ve seen first-hand the strength of the SuperValu and Centra brands and the trust they have built within local communities,” said Bell.
“We’re proud to celebrate 30 years of SuperValu and Centra in Northern Ireland, and to recognise the customers, colleagues and communities who have played such an important role in that journey. It’s a fantastic milestone and we’re delighted to be giving something back to our loyal customers as part of the celebrations.”
The anniversary also highlights the longevity of many of Musgrave NI’s retail partnerships.
The Moran family opened its first Centra store on Strand Road in Derry~Londonderry in 1997. John and Donna Moran and their three children now operate two Centra stores and a SuperValu in the Northwest.
In Co. Down, brothers Conor and Declan Watson each have more than 25 years of Centra retailing experience through their stores in Cloughey and Portaferry. The Kennedy family is also approaching 25 years of operating its Centra store in Ballinderry.
Higgins said Musgrave NI would continue investing in local communities and supporting its retailer partners as the brands look towards their next 30 years.
