Nestlé Purina Petcare Europe has relaunched and expanded its Gourmet Perle range as it looks to capitalise on growing demand for premium wet cat food across Europe.

The pet food manufacturer said the refreshed range is being rolled out across almost 30 European markets, including the UK, supported by a major marketing campaign and the launch of a new fish-based product line.


The move comes as premium wet cat food continues to be one of the fastest-growing segments in the global pet food market, with value growth of around 6 per cent. Purina said changing consumer attitudes are driving demand, with cat owners increasingly focused on ingredient quality, recipe preparation and sourcing credentials.

With an estimated 108 million pet cats across Europe, the wet cat food category continues to offer significant growth opportunities, particularly among consumers seeking greater variety and more premium feeding options for their pets.

The relaunched Gourmet Perle range features updated packaging designed to improve shelf stand-out and help shoppers navigate the brand's offering more easily.

As part of the expansion, Purina has introduced Gourmet Perle Ocean Flakes, a new range of fish-rich recipes inspired by the flaky textures found in human cuisine. The products feature visible fish flakes aimed at enhancing appeal for cats while offering owners a more premium feeding proposition.

The relaunch is being supported by a new pan-European marketing campaign, 'Shine Like a Pearl', which aims to highlight the craftsmanship, quality ingredients and recipe development behind the brand.

Purina is also placing greater emphasis on responsible sourcing, with selected recipes, including the new Ocean Flakes range, made using fish sourced from MSC-certified fisheries.

Elisa Riboldi, chief marketing officer at Purina Europe, said the relaunch builds on the brand's established position in the premium cat food category.

"With Gourmet Perle, we've always focused on the details that matter – from carefully prepared recipes to textures cats love," she said.

"This relaunch, brought to life through our 'Shine Like a Pearl' campaign, builds on that heritage – combining quality ingredients, daily craftsmanship and innovations like Ocean Flakes to create a more refined mealtime experience."

She added that consumer interest in ingredient provenance was also influencing product development.

"At the same time, we know owners want greater transparency about where ingredients come from. By introducing recipes made with fish from MSC-certified fisheries, we're helping make responsible sourcing easier to recognise as part of everyday feeding."
