Co-op Wholesale - the home of Nisa - has elongated its presence in the Scottish independent convenience sector through a five-year contract extension with partner, Pro Gro Supermarkets.

The new five-year partnership will cover all its 12 Nisa stores across Scotland, demonstrating Co-op Wholesale’s unwavering focus on solidifying a future‑ready independent retail network.

Pro Gro Supermarkets – a well-established chain of independently owned and run Nisa fascia convenience stores – is well known for its modern, well‑run neighbourhood provision. It will continue to focus on serving the communities’ needs for top up shops, food to go, treats, snacks, BS, meals and more.

With a strong focus on quality, availability, and excellent customer service, its operational approach aligns closely with Co‑op Wholesale’s model, which is built around competitive pricing, an applauded own‑brand range in Co-op Brand, and a nationwide supply network, all designed to help convenience retailers trade more efficiently and profitably.

Under the extended partnership, Pro Gro Supermarkets will continue to benefit from access to Co-op's Brand ranges across categories including BWS, food to go, snacks and treats, and food for tonight including the award-winning Co-op Irresistible pizza range. Co-op Wholesale’s customers can exclusively order and stock the recognisable and popular Co-op brand, which many shoppers know and trust for its taste, quality and value, supporting retailers’ drive for increased basket spend.

Paul Webster, Sales and Partnerships Director at Co-op Wholesale, commented: “We're thrilled to be furthering our Nisa store presence in Scotland through this five-year contract extension with Pro Gro Supermarkets. It's testament to the fact that we understand the independent convenience store market and offer unbeatable partnership and knowledge to help them flourish and grow.

"This is a truly wonderful business, and we're thrilled to continue to work alongside them."

Jay Javid, Managing Director, at Pro Gro Supermarkets, said: “Signing this new 5-year partnership with Coop Wholesale was an easy decision, there was simply no one else in the market who could match their level of support.

"The key accounts team is phenomenal, our weekly deliveries are on par if not excellent, and their availability week in, week out is the best in the market. I have built invaluable personal relationships across the Co-op Wholesale team, whether it's Paul Webster, Sales and Partnerships Director, Katie Secretan, Managing Director, Andy Rutter, Head of Key Accounts, or Leanne Millar, Key Account Manager.

"We are in constant communication and they are always with us to support - that kind of partnership is priceless. Quite honestly, there was no other player in the market capable of supporting our already significant business and our ambitious expansion plans.

"This deal allows us to take our store estate from 12 stores and beyond. We are incredibly excited about the future, and we thank Co-op Wholesale for everything."
