Post Office is urging current and former postmasters who may have suffered financial losses as a result of inappropriate products, policies or processes to submit claims to its Post Office Process Review (PPR), with less than one month remaining before applications close.

Requests must be received by 11.59pm on September 30, 2026, with Post Office encouraging anyone who believes they may have been affected to apply even if they are not yet certain of the full extent of their losses.

The PPR was established following the Common Issues Judgment in 2019 to provide financial redress to current and former postmasters who experienced losses because Post Office products, policies or processes were not appropriately designed or delivered.

It does not cover losses caused by previous versions of the Horizon IT system.

Post Office said it has written to people who may be eligible to raise awareness of the closing deadline, but stressed that postmasters can submit a request even if they have not received a letter.

Requests can be made online, by email or by post. Post Office said applications can also be submitted on behalf of people who are ill, unable to apply themselves or have died, subject to certain criteria.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We want to ensure that every postmaster who may have been financially impacted by the issues covered by the Post Office Process Review has the opportunity to come forward and have their request considered.

“With just one month remaining before the deadline, we encourage anyone who believes they may have been affected to submit a request form as soon as possible. Our team is available to offer support, and postmaster representative groups are on hand too if you would prefer to speak with them.”

Support available

Postmasters with questions about the review or application process can contact the dedicated Remediation Contact Centre on 0333 665 1093 or email processreview@postoffice.co.uk.

Applications submitted by post should be sent to PPR, PO Box 82038, London EC2P 2WA. Post Office said the PO Box can only accept mail sent through Royal Mail, rather than other carriers or couriers.

The PPR forms part of the wider response to the Post Office Horizon scandal, but the organisation said financial redress through the review is separate from its restorative justice work.

The Restorative Justice Council launched the Horizon Project in September 2025 for people affected by the scandal. The voluntary programme is jointly commissioned and funded by Post Office, Fujitsu and the Department for Business and Trade, while the Restorative Justice Council operates independently.

The programme is intended to address the emotional impact of the scandal and support healing and accountability, rather than provide financial compensation.
