pladis smashes £3bn sales milestone as global snacking demand surges

McVitie’s owner pladis has reported record annual revenues, surpassing the £3 billion mark for the first time on the back of strong international growth and consumer demand for its well-loved brands.

The London-headquartered snacking group – which also owns Flipz, GODIVA and Ülker – saw revenues climb 17 per cent year-on-year to £3.23 billion for 2024. Operating profit rose 4 per cent to £344.4 million, while EBITDA increased 11 per cent to £486.9 million, driven by brand-led growth, tight cost control and new product launches.

pladis’ performance was buoyed by double-digit gains in international markets and innovation across its core brands. In the UK, the company expanded its McVitie’s and Jacob’s ranges, introducing products such as a Cola Bottle flavour Jaffa Cake and Jacob’s Bites. Meanwhile, through its Ülker brand in Türkiye, pladis tapped into the viral Dubai chocolate trend, shipping over 3,100 tonnes between August and December 2024.

Chief financial officer Sridhar Ramamurthy hailed the results as a “year of strong progress”, noting the company’s resilience amid cocoa price inflation and currency volatility.

“Our iconic brands continue to delight billions of consumers each year, and our focus on innovation means we have the agility to respond to consumer desire for both indulgence and healthier snacking,” he said. “While maintaining financial discipline, we are investing now to fuel our growth tomorrow – including in digital infrastructure, research and development, and brand advertising.”

The results follow pladis’ recent £68 million investment announcement to strengthen its UK manufacturing and operations, underscoring the company’s commitment to long-term growth.

Founded in 2016, pladis employs around 16,000 people and sells its snacks in more than 110 countries. It is the world’s fourth-largest sweet biscuit producer and the seventh-largest chocolate manufacturer.
