New Plan for Profit Impulse Guide now available

Unitas has announced that the first new Plan for Profit Guide of 2023 is now available for independent retailers.

Available online and in selected Unitas Wholesale member depots, the Impulse Guide is packed with advice and highlights the must stock core range across confectionery, sweet snacking, crisps and soft drinks to help retailers maximise their sales and profit.


The Impulse guide has been developed in collaboration with Unitas's supplier and member category experts using market data and insight from its network of wholesalers and industry sources to provide a consume- driven suggested core range tailored to independent retailer’s store sizes.

Updated annually, the guide and helps retailers to efficiently manage range change requirements based on customer trends.

In addition to the updated product listing, the guide also provides new regionally tailored planograms and the latest category insights. Value for money and HFSS are also key themes throughout the guide to help retailers adapt to the new legalisation and cost of living crisis impacting shoppers today.

Accessing Plan for Profit guides

  • Printed copies of the new Plan for Profit Impulse Guide are available in selected Unitas Wholesale member depots.
  • An online version of the guide can be accessed at planforprofit.co.uk and via the Plan for Profit app, which is available to download on apple and android devices

The complete series of Plan for Profit core range guides is available in three separate editions to provide the most up to date advice relevant to the key trading and seasonal times of the year. In addition to the new Impulse Guide, retailers can access separate guides for Grocery, Non-Food, Chilled & Frozen, as well as Licensed & Tobacco.

Local Vape Action (LVA) is a partnership approach to tackling vaping issues at a local level. It brings together local authority partners as well as the vape sector via the Independent British Vape Trade Association (IBVTA), to identify and target specific areas.

LVA began with a pilot in Tunbridge Wells as identified by local authority partners in Kent. As part of the project retailers received visits from trading standards to check that they are meeting their statutory obligations, utilising targeted LVA guidance, including age-verification policies, in-store signage and retailer awareness of compliant vape products and vape takeback for used vapes.
