Rice is back in the spotlight this September, as National Rice Week returns (8-14th). Organised by The Rice Association, this year’s campaign will once again encourage consumers to ‘Rice Up Your Life’ – highlighting the many benefits of rice, from its versatility to its convenience, health attributes and more.

This year, a new ‘Rice 101’ guide will be launched to educate consumers on how they can make the most out of short, medium and long grain rice – providing tips to show how easy all rice is to cook, while also debunking some of the most common myths surrounding the grain.

Additionally, the campaign will feature seven new recipes, as well as inspiration from The Rice Association’s members on how easy it is for everyone to try at least one new type of rice (or rice dish) during the week itself – whether that’s at home or eating out.

The Rice Association is calling on all food wholesalers, retailers and the food service sector to make National Rice Week part of their plans this September and help drive the consumption of rice.

“Rice continues to tick all the boxes for today’s value-conscious, globally minded consumers. The UK is one of the most dynamic rice markets in the world, but consumers don’t always have the confidence or knowledge to make the most of what’s on offer,” Jon Calland, Chair of The Rice Association, commented.

“National Rice Week is a valuable opportunity for the entire industry - from suppliers and brands to retailers and foodservice - to come together and showcase the full potential of rice. By inspiring consumers with ideas, education and variety, we can help grow the category and put rice at the heart of more mealtimes.’
