A new Morrisons Daily store is set to make its mark in the home of Robin Hood as it opened its doors to visitors on 23 October, to provide a fresh and affordable shopping experience for the local community.

The 1,500 sq ft store, located at 2 Church Street, Edwinstowe has been operated by the Sood family for over five years and officially opened as a Morrisons Daily last week. The resident Friar Tuck, from the nearby Sherwood Outlaws performance group, cut the ribbon and there were free hot drinks and goody bags, an Indian cuisine tasting session and more family-friendly activities throughout the day.

With significant housing developments and a new primary school under construction nearby, the store is perfectly placed to serve the growing local community while continuing to provide for the thousands of visitors, who explore the nearby attractions of Centre Parcs and Sherwood Forest each year.

The store has undergone a complete transformation, including brand-new refrigeration and shelving units and the addition of coffee and food-to-go options making it the perfect place for passersby to stop.

“We’ve really enjoyed being part of the Edwinstowe community over the past five years and partnering with Morrisons Daily will allow us to take our service to the next level,” Sam Sood, store operator at Edwinstowe, said.

“From fresh food and coffee on the go to everyday essentials, we want the new store to be a place where everyone feels welcome.”

Victoria Lockie, head of wholesale strategic projects and acquisitions at Morrisons, added: “We’re thrilled to bring Morrisons Daily to Edwinstowe, an area rich in history and surrounded by such an incredible community. The Sood family have done a fantastic job serving residents for years and this partnership will help them offer even more of the quality, value and range Morrisons is known for.”

Morrisons now has over 700 franchise stores operating across the UK in local neighbourhoods and forecourts.

The supermarket has set its sights on the convenience sector, with ambitious plans to convert up to 250 independent stores into Morrisons Daily outlets over the coming year.
