Global snacking company plaids has expanded the Jacob’s Mini Cheddars range with the launch of Smoky BBQ variant in a 105g Price-Marked Pack (PMP).
The snacking major said the new sharing format for the £68.4 million brand will help retailers capitalise on consumer demand for relaxed sharing moments and evening consumption occasions.
“Jacob’s Mini Cheddars are already a store-cupboard staple for 35 per cent of UK households [Kantar],” said Christopher Owen, marketing controller at pladis UK&I.
“And this launch represents a sizeable opportunity for independent retailers to boost larger-format bagged snacks sales with a new take on a shopper favourite.”
Owen said the Smoky BBQ variant of Jacob’s Mini Cheddars is one of their most popular flavours, particularly in the convenience channel where Smoky BBQ flavoured products make up 32 per cent of sales for the brand [Kantar].
“We recognise that PMPs are a key format for independent retailers – generating a third of sales in convenience [IRI Convenience] – and our existing Jacob’s sharing packs have been leading the way, with a strong performance in the channel over the past year [Nielsen]. However, there’s definitely scope for driving this further,” he said.
Jacob’s Mini Cheddars BBQ PMP is available to independent retailers and wholesalers in a 105g sharing pack format at an RRP of £1.00, from early August. Packaging will be recyclable through pladis’ partnership with Terracycle.
