Iceland Foods is overhauling its inventory management and replenishment processes through a new partnership with invent.ai, as the frozen food specialist looks to improve on-shelf availability and reduce waste across its UK estate.

The retailer has deployed invent.ai’s AI-powered optimisation platform to better manage thousands of SKUs across its nationwide network of stores and distribution centres. The system analyses complex sales, supply and demand data in real time, enabling faster and more accurate replenishment decisions.

Unlike traditional forecasting tools, the platform factors in seasonal fluctuations, promotions, product launches and one-off anomalies, allowing Iceland to automate stock decisions at scale. The aim is to ensure products are consistently available while minimising stockouts and excess inventory.

Matt Downes, supply chain director at Iceland Foods, said the technology marks a significant step forward in operational visibility. “We can now keep shelves consistently stocked with the products our customers want, reduce lost sales and improve the overall shopping experience across every store and distribution centre,” he said.

The move comes as product availability increasingly overtakes price as a key driver of shopper loyalty in UK grocery. By continuously learning from historical data and adjusting for lost sales, the platform delivers more accurate forecasts and actionable recommendations for each SKU.

Farid Mohsen, VP of strategic accounts at invent.ai, said the partnership is focused on translating complex data into tangible business outcomes. “By optimising inventory and automating replenishment decisions, we enable retailers to improve efficiency, increase product availability and deliver a better experience for every customer,” he said.

The deal builds on invent.ai’s growing presence in the UK, with recent partnerships including Footasylum and Migros. The company will also appear at the Retail Technology Show 2026 later this month alongside Boots, where speakers will discuss the role of AI-driven decision-making in supply chain optimisation.
