Hancocks’s Birmingham depot sells over 100,000 CDM bars in a year

Hancocks’s Birmingham depot sells over 100,000 CDM bars in a year

Leading confectionery wholesaler Hancocks named their Birmingham depot as the ‘home of Cadbury’, after selling 104,320 bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk in the last 12 months.

The weight of bars sold is equivalent to over ten tonnes, the same weight as more than three female African elephants. The depot on Devon Street in Nechells says the amount of Cadbury bars sold stretches over the length of Mount Everest, at over 10,817 metres.

But chocolate products aren’t the only popular confectionery treats their customers love.

The Birmingham store employees are gearing up for summer sales and are well stocked on popular summer leisure lines including Barratt Ice Duos, Warheads Extreme Sour Snap Ice, Crazy Frosty Factory and Ice Cream Topping Sauces.

Hancocks has been in Birmingham for 41 years, opening in 1981, and was the sixth depot to open in the UK. Due to its popularity, the warehouse was extended in 1984, doubling its size.

It now employs 13 members of staff and supplies retailers across the Midlands, as well as those in Wales, North London and as far south as Devon and Cornwall. It also offers a click and collect service for customers who prefer to shop online.

In the early 2000’s the store was given the world's largest solid block of chocolate from Cadbury for an anniversary event.

“We are the sweet shop where all other sweet shops come to shop. It is always great to see our customers react well to our stock, and the Cadbury products in particular have been flying off the shelves over the last 12 months,” Will Cutts, Hancocks Birmingham store manager, said.

“We love bringing new and exciting lines to our customers and stock lines from exclusive partner brands like Warheads, Tootsie and Pez alongside the staple brands like Cadbury.

“We are one of the largest depots of Hancocks, holding more stock and ranges than many others, which is why customers come from across the UK to buy confectionery. We also export to countries including the USA, UAE, Singapore, France, Spain, Australia and Africa.

“Customer service is really important to us. Some of our staff have worked at the Birmingham store for over three decades and know everything there is to know about sweets.”
