Parfetts has unveiled the refreshed Go Local Extra store in Halifax as part of its ongoing investment in independent retail.

Parfetts has relaunched the original Go Local Extra store, marking a significant milestone as the employee-owned wholesaler continues to invest in its retail network.

The Spring Gardens Go Local Extra store in Elland, Halifax, was the very first to open and the birthplace of the Go Local symbol group in 2012. Originally launched by joint managing director Guy Swindell, the store has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, with a modern new look, including a high-impact exterior fascia.

To celebrate the relaunch and help drive footfall, Parfetts is supporting store owner Manny Singh with a high-visibility promotional campaign.

While the store has changed hands since its initial 2012 signing, current owner Manny is a highly experienced multi-site operator. Having previously run successful Go Local symbol stores in Huddersfield and Birmingham, Manny recognised the distinct commercial advantage of remaining with the symbol group to drive sales and foster deep customer loyalty.

Manny’s decision to renew his partnership with Go Local Extra underlines Parfetts excellent retention rates with retailers, and shows the advantages independent store owners gain from the Go Local symbol group. Retailers benefit from strong promotions, expert merchandising, and dedicated, hands-on support from retail development advisors who ensure stores are perfectly aligned with local shopper needs.

Manny Singh said: “Having operated Go Local stores in both Huddersfield and Birmingham, I knew exactly what I was getting when I took on Spring Gardens. The brand gives independent retailers the perfect balance, the ultimate buying power and promotional strength to compete effectively, alongside the freedom to run our own businesses.

“Renewing with Go Local for this relaunch was an easy decision. The new look is fantastic, the expanded food-to-go and chilled options directly meet what our customers want, and the team support has been instrumental in getting this store exactly where it needs to be to serve the community.”

Taylor Campbell, a regular customer, said: “This store is essential to the community; it’s somewhere people in the area can rely on every day. Manny is always welcoming and makes time for everyone, and there are always great offers that make a real difference.”

As part of the transformation, the store has added a dedicated food-to-go area featuring coffee, slush, and milkshake stations, alongside a newly designed counter to improve the customer journey. An additional chiller unit has been installed to expand the store’s fresh and chilled offering, complemented by a rear-illuminated spirits display to elevate the off-licence category.

Guy Swindell, joint managing director at Parfetts, concluded: “This store will always be special to me, as it was the very first Go Local Extra store I launched back in 2012. To see it thriving 14 years later, undergo this striking redesign, and renew its commitment to the Go Local symbol group is a proud moment for our business. It is a testament to our industry-leading customer service and proves that independent retailers see the long-term value in what we offer.

“Our UK-wide store expansion programme is gathering pace across England, Wales, and Scotland, but our growth is built entirely on the sustained success of pillars of the community like Spring Gardens. We offer retailers total flexibility, transparent trading models, and proper operational backing without restrictive contracts. Manny has done an exceptional job here, and we are delighted to continue supporting his journey.”
