Essex-based crisp producer Fairfields Farm Crisps is turning up the heat this summer with the launch of a bold new limited edition Cajun Barbecue flavour. Landing in June 2026, the release introduces a rich, smoky taste profile and a bold twist on the brand’s award-winning hand-cooked crisp range, while also marking the launch of its first-ever ridge-cut crisp, crafted for maximum crunch and flavour.

Inspired by classic barbecue cooking, the Cajun Barbecue recipe blends smoky, savoury depth with a subtle sweetness and a warming Cajun spice kick. Notes of paprika, garlic, onion and black pepper are balanced with a gentle Cajun heat and a tangy tomato barbecue twist, with a peppery finish. The hand-cooked ridge-cut design enhances both texture and taste, helping each crisp hold even more seasoning. Like the rest of the Fairfields Farm range, the crisps are both vegan-friendly and gluten-free.

The new flavour was selected with the help of Fairfields Farm’s Secret Crisp Committee, a panel of crisp enthusiasts recruited from across the UK earlier this year. As part of the campaign, successful applicants were invited to taste-test a shortlist of unreleased flavours from the comfort of their own homes, sharing feedback on each before casting their final vote. After careful deliberation, the smoky barbecue-inspired recipe emerged as the clear favourite, earning its crown as the winning limited-edition flavour for summer 2026. Early feedback praised its “really strong flavour”, “smoky, tomato warmth” and “excellent crunch and texture”.

“Our new Cajun Barbecue flavour is all about bold, layered taste, combining smoky barbecue richness with a warming Cajun spice blend," said Robert and Laura Strathern, co-founders of Fairfields Farm. "Launching it as our first ever ridge-cut crisp makes it even more exciting, as the deeper cut really holds the flavour and delivers an even bigger crunch. We can’t wait to hear what people think.”

The limited-edition Cajun Barbecue flavour will launch in 150g sharing packs and will be available through wholesalers in June. As a seasonal release, the flavour will only be available for a limited time while stocks last.
