Co-op has launched a new own-brand range of GLP-1 friendly meals, marking a UK convenience retail first as part of its new Good Fuel health-focused offer.

Rolling into stores from 7 January, the ‘Good Fuel – Power Up Your Plate’ range features four new mini meals designed specifically for shoppers with smaller appetites. The launch follows data showing that around 3 per cent of the UK population – equivalent to one in every 30 people – is now using weight loss medication.

Each of the mini meals is perfectly portioned and packed with protein and fibre, while also providing at least two of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Inspired by global flavours, the range includes options such as Butternut Squash, Beans and Grains (250g), Chicken & Sweet Potato Penang Curry (250g), and Chicken & Courgette Alfredo Pasta (250g). The meals are priced at £3.50 each.

Nicole Tallant, retail trading director at Co-op, said the range reflects changing shopper attitudes to health and wellbeing. “Our members and customers are changing the way they approach health, looking for healthy and tasty choices that provide a boost of health benefits like protein and fibre, with meals that count towards their five-a-day as well as delivering plenty of flavour,” she said. “There is also a growing need to cater for smaller appetites with meals that provide the quality without so much of the quantity.”

Alongside the mini meals, Co-op is also introducing a broader Good Fuel range of five full-sized meals aimed at shoppers seeking nutritious, easy-to-cook options. These dishes feature high protein, slow-releasing carbohydrates and added-benefit ingredients such as gut-friendly fibres and nutrient-dense vegetables, with each portion delivering at least one of the five-a-day target.

The line-up includes Piri Piri Chicken with Rice (380g), made with marinated British chicken breast, brown rice, vegetables and red quinoa. From 7 to 22 January, Co-op members can buy any two meals from the range for £6, while non-members will pay £6.50 for two.
