Three-year extension targets 250,000m³ annual water benefit and supports CCEP’s commitment to return at least 100% of water used in its finished drinks to nature and communities by 2030

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) has extended its water replenishment partnership with The Coca-Cola Company and Calder Rivers Trust as part of a £2.55 million investment.

Running from 2026 to 2028, the programme will aim to deliver 250,000m³ of additional water benefit annually through wetland creation, habitat restoration and subsurface water reconnection across West Yorkshire. The approach works directly with landholders to deliver water security outcomes alongside biodiversity and flood resilience benefits.

The investment is strategically significant for CCEP's Wakefield site – Europe's largest soft drinks facility by volume – which achieved a 32 million-litre reduction in water use during 2024 through operational optimisation. It also supports CCEP’s commitment to return at least 100 per cent of the water used in its finished drinks to nature and communities by 2030.

The programme extends a three-year partnership that has already delivered 280,000m³ per year of volumetric water benefit. CCEP's decade-long collaboration with The Rivers Trust has established 171 wetlands, scrapes, and ponds across the UK, improving water security, increasing biodiversity and reducing flooding risks.

“Water is fundamental to our business, both for our operations and the communities we serve, so we take our responsibility to protect it seriously,” said Sam Jones, Director, Sustainability and Policy at CCEP GB.

“Our partnership with Calder Rivers Trust has proven that working with local landholders delivers measurable results – 280,000m³ annually from the first phase, with at least a further 250,000m³ targeted through this extension.

“This approach combines water replenishment with tangible benefits including floor resilience, enhanced biodiversity and support for rural land management. Extending this work for another three years will build on that success and bring us closer to our 2030 water replenishment commitment.”
