Independent nut butter brand Butter Bike's signature Rugged Peanut Butter has been awarded a three-star rating at the 2025 Great Taste Awards – the highest honour from the world’s most respected food and drink awards scheme.
This recognition places Butter Bike Rugged Peanut Butter among the very best tasting products in the UK, highlighting its standout flavour, distinctive texture and exceptional ingredient quality.
A consistent bestseller and one of the brand’s hero products, Rugged is made with just two ingredients: premium-grade hi-oleic peanuts sourced from Argentina and a touch of Cornish sea salt. Each batch is crafted using Butter Bike’s signature roast and unique grind, which captures everything from fine, delicate shavings to boldly scattered chunks resulting in a texture unlike any other: layered, complex and incredibly satisfying with every bite.

The panel loved the combination of a “slick base and crunchy chunks,” calling the result “a naughty, grown-up peanut butter” and “a terrific product which impressed two peanut-obsessed judges.”
Hi-oleic peanuts are naturally richer in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats – the same found in olive oil and avocados - and develop a deeply nutty, subtly sweet flavour when toasted. The judges praised its “gorgeous glossy” look, “wonderful roast peanut scent,” and bold flavour. They enjoyed the “bright, fresh chilli notes” and “natural feel” of the product, calling it “weird and wonderful,” and one judge said they could “eat it by the spoonful.” While the jalapeño heat proved punchy, the concept was applauded and described as exciting with strong future potential.
