The Compleat Food Group has announced the appointment of Brian Byrne as its first chief operating officer, effective 1 May, as the group continues to strengthen its leadership team and operational capabilities to support its ambitious growth strategy.

Byrne joined The Compleat Food Group in 2023 as chief procurement officer and has played a pivotal role in transforming the group’s procurement function. With a career spanning over two decades in global supply chain leadership roles, he brings extensive experience and a proven track record in driving operational excellence.

In his new role, Byrne will take overall accountability for the end-to-end supply chain, including planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivery.

“Brian has already made a significant impact since joining us, and his promotion to chief operating officer is a natural next step as we evolve our business,” Nick Field, chief executive, said.

“His expertise, leadership and drive for excellence will be instrumental as we continue to build a supply chain that is agile, resilient and built for the future. I look forward to working even more closely with him as we continue our mission to create food to feel good.”

Byrne commented: “I’m delighted to take on this new role and help shape the next phase of growth for The Compleat Food Group. We have an incredible team and a strong foundation to build upon. I’m excited to work across our supply chain and operational teams to ensure we deliver great food, even more efficiently, to our customers and consumers.”

Formed in 2021, The Compleat Food Group is home to brands including Pork Farms, Wall’s Pastry, Squeaky Bean, Unearthed, Vadasz, Wrights, Palace Culture, The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co and Harvey and Brockless.

Employing more than 5,500 people across 16 sites, the business is also a leading supplier of own-label pastry, sweet bakery, party food, olives and antipasti, continental meats, dips and sauces and plant-based food to the UK’s major retailers, as well as across foodservice.
