Asda has started 2026 by opening two new Asda Express stores in Bradford and Salford, taking its nationwide convenience estate to more than 500 stores.
The retailer said the milestone reflects its rapid growth since entering the convenience market in 2022 and its continued focus on delivering “unbeatable value” in high‑footfall locations across the UK.
The former Hare and Hounds pub on Toller Lane has been converted into Asda Express Bradford, and Asda Express Salford is a new store on Norton Street, close to Salford Central train station.
The new Express stores support Asda’s ambition to strengthen its presence in high-footfall urban areas, residential neighbourhoods, and transport hubs - locations where Asda has traditionally had less of a footprint, but where demand for convenience and great value continues to grow.
“We’re excited to kick off the year by opening two brand-new Asda Express stores, building on our fantastic momentum from 2025,” Joseph Sutton, vice president, Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said.
“In under five years, we’ve built a nationwide convenience estate of over 500 stores which is now outperforming the wider convenience market thanks to the combination of our great products and unbeatable value.”
Each Express convenience store offers over 3,000 branded and own-label products, catering to everything from top-up shops to lunch on the go.
A variety of services will be coming to the stores shortly after launch, including bakery items and food to go products. On-demand food delivery options such as Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo will also be available.
Asda Express also matches supermarket prices on selected everyday essentials, including bread, milk, chicken fillets, beef mince, cheese and selected fresh fruit and vegetables.
Since entering the convenience retail market in 2022, Asda has expanded its Express format rapidly. It opened 17 Express stores during 2025.
