Ahoy-hoy! Marshmallow Mateys weigh anchor in the independent sector

Ahoy-hoy! Marshmallow Mateys weigh anchor in the independent sector

Empire Bespoke Foods, a leading speciality food importer, distributor, and food brand owner, has announced that Marshmallow Mateys, the popular US breakfast cereal, is available to the UK independent convenience sector.

Already an established favourite in the US, the frosted whole grain oat cereal delivers a sweet, toasted oat flavour and incorporates ‘a treasure’ of marshmallow chunks for a taste of indulgence.

“Marshmallow Mateys brings something new to the breakfast table and is the perfect way to make breakfast fun,” said Madina Kaiumova, brand manager, USA & Cupboard. “The combination of its popular toasted oat flavour with delicious sweet marshmallows certainly brings something new to the breakfast table.”

The launch comes at a time when at-home breakfasts are now a key driver for the category and with 93 per cent of people eating breakfast at home, it’s thought that the move towards more flexible and remote working has been largely responsible for increased retail sales of breakfast foods.*

“Around 85 per cent of people eat breakfast cereals with 88 per cent of those consuming them at least once a week. This includes an impressive 29 per cent who eat them once a day or more and 50 per cent who eat them at least four times a week,” added Kaiumova.

“Marshmallow Mateys is loved by kids and adults alike, and as well as being a great start to the day, it’s a delicious treat any time of day!”

Marshmallow Mateys (RRP £3.75 per 320g pack) are available direct to independents and through wholesalers including Glencrest, Dhamecha, Bestway and others.
