Convenience store body Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) today (May 13) announced the appointment of two award-winning retailers to its Independent Board.

Natalie Lightfoot (Londis Solo Convenience) and Jack Matthews (Bradley’s Supermarkets) has now joined the board of ACS.

Lightfoot has owned and run Londis Solo Convenience store since Dec 2006. She now runs the store with her husband and has set up a pioneering mental health programme called ‘Retailers for Retailers’.

Matthews is the owner of Bradley's Supermarkets alongside his parents, operating two village convenience stores in Quorn, based in Leicestershire. Jack’s focus is on supporting local brands and offering a diverse range of products to his local community.

ACS' Independent Retailer Board is made up entirely of independent retailers.

The board's main task is the development of a range of services to give maximum benefit to the independent operator, as well as being a useful sounding board for new ideas, like trials on local sourcing and initiatives like shopper surveys.

Some of the names in the ACS board are retailer Rav Garcha, Jonathan James, Susan Connolly, Kash Khera, Sunita Aggarwal, Julian Taylor-Green, Fiona Malone, Dee Sedani and Dennis Williams.

Welcoming the new members, ACS chief executive James Lowman said, “We are delighted to welcome Natalie and Jack to our Independent Board, who both bring a wealth of experience, fantastic insight and a diverse set of skills.

"The appointment of our two new board members will serve to enhance and strengthen our ability to deliver the best representation and industry advice for local shops.”
