With the UK soft drinks market now worth a record £26.3 billion, one Leeds supermarket is making sure local families can stay cool without paying premium prices.

As temperatures rise Abu Bakr Supermarket has launched a major drinks promotion, cutting the price of dozens of popular soft drinks, juices and refreshments to as little as 99p in a bid to help customers keep costs down during the summer heatwave.

The latest figures from the British Soft Drinks Association show the UK soft drinks market reached £26.3 billion in 2025, underlining the nation's growing appetite for soft drinks, juices and flavoured beverages.

While demand traditionally surges during periods of hot weather, Abu Bakr says its latest promotion is focused on ensuring value remains at the heart of customers' shopping baskets.

Hamza Hussain, Managing Director of Abu Bakr Supermarket, said: "When the weather gets hot, families naturally buy more drinks, but the cost can soon mount up. We wanted to make sure our customers could enjoy the sunshine without worrying about spending a fortune on keeping everyone refreshed."

He added: "Value has always been part of what we do. These are genuine offers on products people buy every day, and we're delighted to be able to pass those savings on to our customers."

Among the drinks included in the promotion are:

  • Irn-Bru 750ml – 99p
  • Barr Cola 750ml – 99p
  • Rubicon Sparkling Passion 2L – 99p
  • Salaam Cola 1.5L – 99p

Abid Hussian , director of Abu Bakr Supermarket, added: "We know households are still watching every penny, especially during school holidays when demand for drinks increases. We've worked closely with suppliers to secure the best possible prices, and we're pleased to be able to offer these savings across a wide range of popular brands."

With warm weather forecast to continue, Abu Bakr expects the promotion to prove popular with shoppers looking to stock up for barbecues, family gatherings and everyday refreshments.
