Mars and Galaxy milk drinks now available in cans

Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats (MCD&T) has today launched its best-selling milk drinks Mars and Galaxy in a new 250 ml can format.

The move is part of the company’s drive for more sustainable packaging that can be more easily recycled and if successful is likely to rolled-out to other variants within the range, alongside the existing 350 ml sports cap bottles.

As the interest in sustainable alternatives continues to rise, packaging like glass and cans has become more popular and now accounts for 20 per cent of all Flavoured Milk sales, with cans representing 11 per cent up 22 per cent on its share vs three years ago.

According to Trivium Packaging’s Buying Green Report 2023, 79 per cent of those surveyed are looking for products in sustainable packaging.

“The launch of this new packaging format enables us to explore more sustainable options giving consumers more choice,” said Michelle Frost, general manager at Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats.

“Cans are a popular on-the-go format but are equally used in the home.  With the product being ambient shoppers can take them home and chill at their leisure before drinking.”

Mars Milk Drink combines “the iconic flavours of creamy caramel, Mars chocolate and a hint of malt, while Galaxy Milk Drink creates the unforgettably smooth taste of Galaxy chocolate in a delicious milk drink”. Both drinks are suitable for vegetarians and have no added sugar.

Both products can be stored ambient but are best served chilled.

Mars and Galaxy Milk Drink cans are available from Iceland and Costco now with further rollout expected in the coming months.

Available in cases of 12 x 250 ml.   RSP: £1.20.
