150,000 Too Good To Go meals milestone for Nisa retailers

Nisa’s independent retailers have reached a Magic Bag milestone with 150,000 meals now saved since the relationship with surplus food app Too Good To Go began in 2019.

With over 300 stores now signed up to the app, the latest figure equates to a saving of 375 tonnes of Co2e, the symbol group said. Every week between 1,200-1,300 meals are saved across the stores.

The app presents retailers with a useful tool to drastically reduce the amount of food waste in store whilst offering a helping hand to the community by sharing cut price products at a time when the cost of living is a concern for many across the UK.

“Every Nisa store that has so far partnered with Too Good To Go have given positive feedback about how simple the app is to use and the impact on the local community,” Ian Bacon, regional retail manager at Nisa, said.

“We are all very aware of the cost-of-living crisis and the Too Good To Go app is one way that Nisa retailers can offer support to their shoppers really effectively.”

Sophie Trueman, country director UK/IE at Too Good To Go, added: “Since partnering with Nisa in 2019, their commitment and active involvement have made them a valuable partner in our mission to reduce food waste. The Nisa team has consistently demonstrated their dedication, enthusiasm, and provided invaluable support.

“Together, we have successfully saved 150,000 meals to date, a significant achievement in our efforts to reduce food waste. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to sustainability and the positive influence businesses can have when working together. With Nisa’s continued support, we look forward to reaching new milestones and making an even greater impact.”
