    Costcutter reduces fuel levy charges

A spokesperson for Costcutter has confirmed that in line with its commitment to supporting retailers and helping them maintain profitability, the current fuel levy charges will be reduced with effect from Monday (17).

“We have seen fuel prices fall over the last quarter and remain consistent and therefore, we are pleased to announce that we will be reducing the fuel levy charges accordingly to £610 + VAT per delivery”, a Costcutter spokesperson told Asian Trader.

Costcutter has also confirmed that it will continue to support retailers by paying back charges on behalf of those who meet a spending commitment of £10,000 per week and achieve rebate criteria until further notice.

Costcutter introduced a fee for deliveries in March last year. Combined impact of Brexit, Covid-19, driver and raw material shortages, and in particular fuel and shipping cost increases resulting in a significant rise in operating costs for all UK businesses was cited as the reason behind for the fees.

“We feel that the levy is a true reflection of the recent increase in fuel prices and is competitive in comparison to other levies which have recently been introduced in the market. We hope to be able to maintain the levy at this level however we also reserve the right to review this levy and implement any increases if fuel prices continue to rise,” reports quoted Bestway retail director Mike Hollis at the time.
