SPAR and EUROSPAR stores across Northern Ireland are giving local schools the chance to share £7,500 in funding ahead of the new school year.
A total of 15 schools will each receive £500, which can be used to purchase equipment or make improvements based on their individual needs.
The initiative, run by Henderson Group, which owns the SPAR and EUROSPAR brands in Northern Ireland, follows last year's scheme when 10 schools across Antrim, Belfast, Coleraine, Cookstown, Larne, Lisburn, Newry, Newtownabbey and Strabane each received £500.
Shoppers are being invited to nominate their local school for the funding by scanning QR codes available in participating stores. Schools can use the money for anything they need for the new academic year, from textbooks and sports equipment to classroom upgrades.
Alex Long at Henderson Group said supporting local communities was “at the heart” of the business.
“We know schools are often under pressure, so it's great to be able to provide even more local schools with a boost this year to help them purchase much needed equipment for the new school year and show our support for our communities,” Long said.
The competition opened on 10 August and closes on 30 August.
Customers can nominate a school in-store by scanning the competition QR code or online via SPAR NI website.
