A well-known petrol station near King’s Lynn has changed hands after more than four decades under the same ownership.

Whittington Petrol Filling Station, a busy forecourt, convenience store and MOT site located on the A134, has been sold by long-time owner Michael Peake following his retirement. The site had been under Peake’s stewardship for over 40 years.

The new owners are Mr Biswas and his son Shehan, established local forecourt operators with significant industry and regional experience. The pair plan to build on the site’s strong trade history and are already preparing to revamp the convenience store.

Plans include a full store refit and an expanded range of fresh produce, including fruit and vegetables, alongside hot food-to-go options, aimed at meeting the needs of passing motorists and local residents.

“Firstly, we would like to thank Mick and Mandy for selling their business to us. From meeting with them both, we know how sentimental the site was to them. We look forward to meeting our customers and welcoming new ones too,” Shehan said.

“My dad and I plan to build on the established relationships the site already has with the community, whilst expanding on some of the products and services on offer.

“We wish Mick and Mandy all the best in their retirement.”

Michael commented: “We would like to wish the new owners of Whittington Garage, Mr Biswas and Shehan, all the very best for the future. There are exciting times ahead for the surrounding community. We would also like to thank Lewis at Christie & Co for his assistance in marketing and the sale of the garage.”

The deal was brokered by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, with the sale completed for an undisclosed sum.

Lewis Last, associate director at Christie & Co who managed the sale, said: “I am very pleased to have brokered this deal. It was an excellent demonstration of the success that structured marketing can have when bringing petrol filling stations to the market. After two successful open days, we were fortunate to receive multiple bids. This deal had a collaborative feel, with buyers and sellers both motivated to reach the shared end goal.”
