Too Good To Go, the world’s largest marketplace for surplus food, is sharing a way to celebrate retailers who are leading the way to reduce food waste. The "Local Heroes" feature highlights high performing businesses that are partnered with Too Good To Go, which helps them stand out to nearby users, in turn driving even greater footfall.
Local Heroes have increased visibility and signposting whilst displaying a Local Hero badge on the Too Good To Go app, reassuring consumers that this is a partner that they can trust. These high-performers also have access to additional perks, including Local Heroes marketing materials that retailers can display online and in-store – helping improve visibility in the local community.
There’s no sign-up process to become a Local Hero; instead, retailers simply just need to keep saving food with Too Good To Go. To earn their status, retailers are measured in three month increments on the following metrics:
- Meals saved
- Store rating
- Cancellation rate
- Refund rate
Each store has its own target to reach, and each performance metric can be improved by following Too Good To Go’s recommendations in MyStore – Too Good To Go’s partner dashboard.
“Independent retailers sit at the heart of their local communities, and play an important role in reducing food waste," said Chelsea Kerr, Managing Director of Too Good To Go. "At Too Good To Go, we’re proud to support them in unlocking the value of surplus food and ensuring good food doesn’t go to waste. Our Local Heroes feature shines a spotlight on the partners going above and beyond to reduce waste. By recognising and elevating these high-performing businesses, we’re helping them stand out to nearby users – driving footfall, increasing visibility, and supporting their continued impact."
