Wolves FC legend, Steve Bull MBE, officially opened the new £1.1m SPAR store in Tipton recently.

Bull, the greatest goal scorer in the history of the club, was on hand to greet customers at the new SPAR, which boasts not only convenience store essentials but also a Greggs food-to-go outlet. The new 2,000sqft Blakemore Retail SPAR store is conveniently located on the site of the former Jolly Collier pub, in a popular residential area with car parking for twenty vehicles.

The fresh and modern store provides shoppers with a great range of grocery, snacking, beers, wines and spirits, toiletries, baby, pet food, and household items. Products include big brand names as well as the popular, award-winning SPAR own brand. Value is a key proposition in-store with lots of deals for shoppers to snap up.

With green initiatives so important to consumers, the new store incorporates sensory lighting, LED lights and doors on chillers. For greater convenience at busier times, there are also two self-checkouts in the store.

Matt Teague, Managing Director of Blakemore Retail, said: “It is fantastic to open our latest SPAR store here in Tipton. We are delighted with how the store has been designed – the new look and feel is fresh and modern.

“The store’s entire range is everything the local community of Tipton will need from a SPAR convenience store making it the first choice for shoppers plus the trade businesses situated directly opposite the store will have a great number of hot and cold food-to-go options and items for tonight’s tea available to them. We are also very pleased to be able to offer local people employment and excited for the great start the store is having,” Teague said.

The store employs 36 local colleagues and is located at 29 Leabrook Road, Tipton, DY4 ODX.
