Leading convenience retailer and Asian Trader Businesswoman of the Year 2025 Julie Kaur has once again underlined her commitement to the local community after raising £1,500 for local causes through festive fundraising activities.
Kaur's Premier Jules in Telford donated £750 to Little Stars Charity, generated through a Christmas fair and raffle held in-store. The charity supports families across Shropshire by providing essential items such as clothing, bedding and baby equipment.
Speaking with Asian Trader, Kaur said, "We have always done a worthy charity everytime. Little Stars is fairly new and small charity, we know how hard it is to provide for the children especially with the cost of living and energy bills.
"Children are our future and we should all do our little bit to make children have a happy and positive look on life. As a mother of three. I know how hard it is to manage when a new born arrives and so helping the next generation gives me great pleasure."
She added that raising funds for various causes is something very close to her heart.
" On a personal note, the pleasure I get from fundraising and engaging with the locals is priceless," Kaur said.
In addition to the Little Stars donation, Premier Jules also raised a further £750 in December for the Ironbridge & Severn Gorge Lions Club, which works locally to tackle poverty and support vulnerable residents.
The latest donation brings the total amount raised for local charities and community causes in 2025 by Kaur and her customers to £9,500.
Kaur has been a serial fundraiser amassing thousands of pounds for charity over the years. She had previously won the Spirit of the Community Award at the Asian Trader Awards 2021.
Kaur's store, which has been standing in the community since 1982, is a thriving community hub. She took over the family business from her father-in-law 20 years ago, but she has been involved in the business since marrying her husband. With three children under five, she juggled running the shop with school runs, bringing up the children and looking after a family of five.
Most recently, Premier Jules underwent an extensive refit. The store is now transformed with new wider layout and flooring along with a modern ceiling and updated fixtures. The store now also have a soft drink cave, inspired by the sucess of the concept of beer cave in the convenience sector.
