In what is described as a ‘terrifying experience’, a Nottinghamshire shop worker challenged a masked man holding a knife in a reported attempted robbery.
The masked offender entered the store in Laurel Grove in Kirkby-in-Ashfield at around 3pm on 18 April, carrying a large knife, but the shop worker confronted the man before he was chased out and ran from the scene.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their enquiries.
“Robbery is totally unacceptable and we will always take action against offenders,” Police Constable Welch, who is leading the investigation, said. “We believe there were several people in the area at that time, including school children, so we are appealing for those with any information to come forward.”
The man has been described as a white, wearing a black hooded jumper, khaki green jacket, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and black trainers. It was reported the armed man ran towards Clumber Street and headed over Movern Park.
“This must have been a terrifying experience for the victims and those who witnessed it,” Welch added. “Incidents like these not only harm businesses financially, but they can also be incredibly distressing for staff within the stores.”
“If you can help please call 101, quoting incident number 563 of 18 April 2021.”
